I like both of these bands a good deal, but the truth is the truth, and I an inclined to report it. Whether accidental or intentional, the melodies of these two song s is questionably similar, and makes one wonder who thought of it first.
The songs in question are “Pastures” by We the They and “1983” by Neon Trees. While the songs differ substantially in terms of musicality, the melodies in the verse are eerily similar. We the They beat Neon Trees in release by something like two years, so my vote is in favor of them, but it’s up to you to decide. Who knows, the melody is probably some mountain folk tune anyway (every song is a mountain folk song. Ask Bob Dylan…)
